Nordic Ski Ambassadors at Salmon Ridge

Nooksack Nordic Ski Club

Saturdays during the snow season. We must have snow a the SnoPark for these events. Ski Ambassadors are on hand at the Salmon Ridge SnoPark at mile 46 on Mt. Baker Hwy. with maps of the local ski and snowshoe trails as well as the opportunity to buy a SnoPark permit. Look at and talk about the different types of skis, put on a pair of snowshoes and try them out.

FEBRUARY

Legendary Banked Slalom

The Legendary Banked Slalom is Mt. Baker Ski Area’s signature event. Snowboarders from nearby and far away to ride the slalom course in the hopes of bringing home the coveted duct tape trophy.

Ski to Sea

Whatcom Events

Sun, May 26, 2024

Ski to Sea is the original multisport relay race, from Mt. Baker to Bellingham Bay. Organize your team of 3-8 racers and join us on Memorial Day weekend. Teammates and spectators await finishing racers in Bellingham’s scenic Marine Park and can experience the Historic Fairhaven Festival, the all-day street party just up the hill. Registration opens January 1, 2024.

Golden Egg Hunt

Join us on the slopes for Golden Egg Hunt! For all ages in the main hunt, we’ve got two Mt. Baker Season Passes up for grabs, and for Kids ages 10 & under, we have two separate hunts with 5000 eggs filled with fun prizes.

A small but mighty farmers market. Twin Sisters Farmers Market is a cooperatively run mobile market that serves Nugents Corner and Kendall every Saturday from June through October. The farmers are committed to providing a diverse variety of high quality produce grown locally.

For busted up loggers. Welcome to the Deming Logging Show. Originally established in 1963, our show was inspired by the need to financially assist loggers who were injured in the woods in Whatcom County. Our grounds come alive the second full weekend in June each year. With events and exhibitions to display the skills, tools, and technology used in the logging industry.

Bigfoot Festival

This is our annual fundraiser to benefit the development of Maple Falls Park. We will have our ever so popular root beer floats again, in a souvenir mug, bigfoot folklore, food trucks, beer garden and over 40 vendors.

Race starts at Chair 9 Restaurant, 10459 Mt. Baker Hwy., Glacier

Ascend 4,462 feet from Chair 9 in Glacier to Artist Point (5,140 feet elevation) in 22 miles. The Mt. Baker Highway is known as one of the most scenic paved roads in the country and rarely is the highway closed to motorized vehicles from Glacier to Artist Point. With steep elevation and several switchbacks, this ride is not for the faint of heart but the views are stunning. Experience the agony and the ecstasy!

Oktoberfest

Deming Logging Show

Second full weekend in October on Friday & Saturday

This yearly event is not to be confuted with any other festivals happening in the fall in Whatcom County! The Deming Logging Show’s Oktoberfest is patterned after the true festivals that are held in Germany. It was started in 1983 as a fund raiser for Busted Up Loggers.

Each year in October the Chamber hosts candidates for public office at the Maple Falls Town Hall. This event includes a brief Q&A with the candidates followed by a dessert social. 2024 date TBA.
